Quick facts: As MSW production was exceeding combustion and handling capacity, Århus municipality tendered for an extension to the existing WTE plant. In Aug 1999, COWI, Bruun & Sørensen Group, and architects Friis & Moltke won the competition subsequently designed and procured the project. In Apr 2009, Götaverken installed its ADIOX scrubber condensers on the second unit. This extracts an additional 3 MW of heat from the incineration process.

Quick facts: KARA/Noveren was founded on 1 Jan 2007 by merger of two existing waste management companies. The combined firm is owned by nine municipalities situated west and south of Copenhagen with a population of about 400,000. When the new line 6 was completed in mid-2013, replacing two eixisting furnaces, throughput increased from 245,000 tpy to 350,000 tpy of MSW. Dutch architect Erick van Egeraat was commissioned for the external design. Steam is sold to VEKS for the Greater Copenhagen DHS.
