Quick facts: At completion, this was the largest wind park in Southeast Asia. In Oct 2001, NWPD signed an initial agreement and ultimately signed a 20yr PPA with Ilocos Norte Electric Coop for the the plant. The site is a 4km stretch of coast on Bangui Bay 65km from Laoag City. In Mar 2004,Northwind received a $29mn soft loan from ABN-Amro plus guarantees from the Philippine Export-Import Credit Agency. The $47.6mn project was also supported by $11mn in grants from Danida.

Bac Lieu

Quick facts: In June 2011, local developer Cong Ly Co signed a contract with GE Wind for ten, 1.6-82.5 wind turbines and O&M services for phase one of the Bac Lieu wind plant in Binh Dong district, Bac Lieu province. The phase one plant went online in May 2013 and, in February 2014, work got underway on a 52-turbine extension with the same WTGs. The 500ha project site is along the coast and in submerged alluvial flats immediately offshore. The immediate area has also been developed for mariculture of shrimp and crabs.
