Quick facts: The Te Rere Hau project is the commercial launch site for the new-design Windflow 500 WTG. The project is a joint venture of NZ Windfarms, Babcock & Brown, and NP Power. In Oct 2007, 16 additional machines were ordered for the site bringing the total number on order to 44 of the 97 WTG consented. The Windflow 500 is of indigenous design and specially built for lightweight and high wind speeds. Over 90% of the component parts are made in New Zealand.
