Quick facts: This is said to be the world's highest full-size windpark being located on a 242ha site at 4,110m elevation in La Higuera town, Coquimbo region, 70km north of La Serena and3 km from the town of Punta Colorada. This $50mn installation is the largest wind farm yet built by a mining company.

Quick facts: This WPP is n the Coquimbo province, near the Rio Limarí. The plant was built in 6mos and connected to the grid in Mar 2013.

Quick facts: This wind park was inaugurated on 20 Jan 2010 outside the town of Canela 300km north Santiago. Annual output of about 110 GWh is sold into the Chilean central grid. The V90 machines are 125m tall and weigh 225t. Totoral represents a total investment of $140mn and is the first-ever renewable energy project to be financed under Chile's "Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Law". The opening ceremony was headed by Michelle Bachelet, President of the Republic of Chile, who was accompanied by Sigrid Hjornegard, State Secretary, Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy along with SN Power executives and staff.

Valle de los Vientos

Quick facts: This WPP was completed at the end of Dec 2013. The total cost was $170mn. The investment was partly covered through a loan that EGP agreed with the Danish Export Credit Agency (EKF) and Citi, the latter as sole lead arranger and agent. The €100mn loan was also used for the Taltal WPP. Valle de los Vientos connects to the SING at the Calama Substation.
