Quick facts: Ararat WPP was the third largest windfarm in Australia at completion. The site is rural land 180km northwest of Melbourne and 9km-17km northeast of Ararat. The project was submitted to MOP in Jan 2010 and approved in Oct 2010. Network applciations were approved in 2012. In Jan 2015, a PPA was signed with the ACT Government for 40% of the output. Ararat was fully commissioned in Apr 2017. The cost was around AUD 450mn. The plant is operated and managed by Windlab Systems.

Quick facts: This A$1bn project was officially opened in Apr 2013 and became the largest wind farm in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a JV of AGL and Meridian Energy. The 83m tall WTGs were installed over 5,500ha spanning three ranches in the Hamilton area, about 290km west of Melbourne. The first machines were connected in Sep 2012. The wind plant is run by about 20 employees.

Quick facts: The site is 3km from Wonthaggi Town center in Bass Shire, Gippsland. The turbines are built on 120ac of grazing land which traverses land behind sand dunes and a foreshore reserve.
