Quick facts: This project began with the build decision in 1936. Much of the early work was done manually by POWs due to rocky permafrost and lack of construction equipment during the late pre-war years.The first 25-MW T/G set started on 13 Dec 1942 and the first phase completed in Dec 1950 at 162 MW.
