Quick facts: In 1995, a new company was formed to build a pair of 300-MW generating units in Pingqiao district, Xinyang City. These were placed in service in Jun and Nov 2001, respectively. In Jan 2003, the company was placed under the management of China Datang, which shortly began implementation of Henan’s first USC units as Xinyang Phase-II. These were approved by NDRC in Mar 2008 and Xinyang Unit-3 completed in Oct 2009 after 18mos of construction with the second set following not long thereafter. The Phase-II project cost Rmb 4.34bn. The plant connects to the 220kV and 500kV grids. Shaanxi Coal Chemical Group now owns 51% of the plant.

Huaneng Qinbei 1-4

Quick facts: Unit-1 was the first domestically-made 600-MW supercritical coal-fired generating unit put into operation. In Jun 2007, HPI received approval to extend the Qinbei plant with Units 3&4. The project cost approximately RMB4.48, of which 20% was equity capital funded by HPI (60%), Henan Provincial Construction Investment Corp (35%), and Jiyuan Municipal Construction Investment Corp (5%), with the remaining funded by bank loans. In Dec 2010, HPI was approved to add the first of two 1,000-MW sets at Qinbei.

In 2005, a second phase with two 600-MW units was launched and these came online in 2008.

Quick facts: Yaomeng Phase-I in the suburbs of Pingdingshan City has four 300-MW coal-fired units. UNits 1&2 were the first domestically-designed 300-MW coal-fired units online in China. After about 20yrs of operation, the decision was made to rebuild the Unit 1&2 boilers to attain modern performance levels. In Nov 2000, Mitsui Babcock was awarded the rebuild contract and undertook the project in cooperation with China Power Complete Equipment Co and Henan Provincial Electric Power Design Institute. The first unit was completed in 2002 and the second in 2009. In Jan 2006, CPI reported NDRC approval of two 600-MW supercritical boilers to extend Yaomeng PS. The first unit went commercial in Oct 2007 and the second in Dec 2007.
