Quick facts: In 2008, the GOH signed a tripartite agreement with Cuba and Venezuela which, among other things resulted in a donation from the Republic of Venezuela to finance the construction of three diesel power plants, one each in Port-au-Prince, Cap Haitien and Gonaives. The plant in Port-au-Prince is co-located with EDH's existing plant in Carrefour commune. The 34-MW plant was named Alexandre Petion and it went online at the end of Feb 2008.

Quick facts: In Jul 2009, the IFC announced that it was partially financing a new private-power project at Drouillard in PAP’s Cite Soleil district sponsored by E-Power. The development company is majority-owned by a consortium of local investors led by Daniel Rouzier, a Haitian businessman, while Korea East-West Power Co Ltd has a 30% stake. IFC provided $17mn for its own account and syndicated $12mn from the Netherland's FMO. The total project cost was $57mn. The plant was commissioned in Jan 2011.
