Quick facts: The Fengtan Dam on the Youjiang is 48mi southeast of Zhangjiajie. It was one of China's largest dams at completion reaching 112.5m in heigh with a crest length of 488m. Construction began in Apr 1970 and the first unit commissioned in May 1978. All dam construction was completed in Sep 1987. In 2001, a second phase expansion began and the first set completed in May 2004.

Quick facts: This HPP on the Lishui River 1.5km from Jiangya Town, in Cili County, Zhangjiajie City. The Jiangya Water COntrol Project was approved in Jun 1993, and construction at Jiangya started in Feb 1994. All units were online in Dec 1999. The 128m tall RCC dam is 327m long.

Quick facts: This HPP on the Zishui River River in Taojiang County, Yiyang City. Construction of the 27m dam began in 1976. These were the largest bulg sets in China at the time.

Quick facts: In Sep 2003, the cofferdam at CPI's Sanbanxi hydro project was completed. The project is on the lower middle reaches of the middle-lower reaches of the Qingshui River in Jinping county. At completion, the project had the highest concrete face rockfill dam in China and the third tallest in the world. All four vertical Francis units went into operation in July and August 2006. Aannual output is expected to be about 2.4 TWh.

Quick facts: In Aug 2004, China Power Investment announced the completion of the Wanmipo HPP on the Yuanshui River in Baojing County, Xiangxi Tujia & Miao AP. The plant cost Rmb 2,033mn and has a 64.5m tall and 237m long RCC gravity dam. Construction started in Aug 2000 and the first unit went online in Feb 2004. J-Power was an engineering consultant on the project and the project was funded in part by an ODA loan. Average annual production is estimated at 792 GWh.
