Quick facts: In Oct 2006, UHE Dardanelos was sold at auction to Energetica Aguas da Pedra (EAP) after about 3yrs of preliminary development and environmental studies. EAP is a consortium owned by Neoenergia (51%) with the remaining ownership by Eletronorte and CHESF (24.5% each). The site is near Aripuana on the Rio Aripuana. Final permits were received in May 2007 and the R$748 project went into construction. BNDES financed R$485mn of the investment.. Commercial operation of the first unit was authorized on 10 Aug 2011, about 18mos past the original schedule. The grid connection is to the Aripuanã-Juína 230kV line.

Quick facts: This large HPP is a JV of Neo Energia, Furnas, and Eletrosul. The project was one of six HPP approved by Aneel in Jul 2006 and Tles Pires was recorded in Jun 2009. The concession was awaded in Dec 2010 after reducing the number of turbines from six to five whil maintaing the total output. The site is 330km from the confluence of the Rio Teles Pires with the Rio Juruena. Paranaita, the nearest town, is 85km away.
