Quick facts: UHE Batalha is on the Rio São Marcos, a main tributary of the Rio Paranaíba, between the mucipalities of Cristalina (GO) and Paracatu (MG). The project has a 50m dam and will create a resrvoir 36km long. The Batalha project cost R$740mn. Its development featured a number of innovative social and environmrntal welfare initiatives.

Quick facts: Chesp was founded in Jun 1949 by Dr Roland Marin and others and construction of the São Patrício power station got underway shortly thereafter. The plant is on the Rio das Almas and commissioned on 25 Dec 1955 as the second largest hydroelectric plant in the state.

Quick facts: Sefac is a Sociedade de Propósito Específico (SPE) formed by Furnas (49.5%), Alcoa Aluminio (30%), DME Energy (10%), and Camargo Correa (10%). Site studies began in 1969 and the project was assuemd by Furnas in 1984. The plant was authorized in 1997 and bid-out in 2001. The SPE was formed in 2006 and construction began in Feb 2007. The dam on the Rio Sao Marcos is 661m long and is partially RCC. The $559mn plant connects to the grid at 138kV.
