Quick facts: In Oct 2004, geo X, , a JV of Pfalzwerke and EnergieSudWest, said it would proceed with 3km drillings at Landau, RP, on re-purposed military property. In Jul 2006, an EPC award for an ORC power station was awarded and the energy converter came into operation in Nov 2007. Residual heat is supplied to the regional DHS.

Quick facts: Pico Vermelho on San Miguel Island was the first geothermal power plant in the Azores. From 1980-2003, the 3-MW set ran over 130,000hrs and produced 80,9 GWh. In Mar 2007, Ormat completed a 10-MW ORC extension at the site. This cost €35mn and took about 5yrs to build. Verkis and Hitaveita Suournesja were consultants on the project.
