Quick facts: Construction on SWEPCO’s first CCGT began in Mar 2008 and the power station went commercial on 16 Jun 2010. SWEPCO announced the Stall project as a new intermediate resource in May 2006. The Stall facility is located on 8ac of property adjacent to SWEPCO’s Arsenal Hill poewr station, where the first unit came online in 1926. The new facility cost about $384mn and is named for J Lamar Stall, who worked for SWEPCO for 37yrs, including service as president and CEO from 1971-1983.

The facility was built behind the Joseph Cefalu Municipal Steam Plant and was the first power plant to be built in the southern region of Louisiana in 40yrs. Six LEPA member municipalities including Morgan City, Houma, Jonesville, Plaquemine, Rayne and Vidalia, committed to participate in the project by entering into long term power sales agreements.
