Quick facts: On 12 Jun 2001, Xcel completed a unique 6yr, $283mn repowering of the Fort St Vrain nuclear plant near Platteville. The new GTs and HRSGs supply steam to a de-rated nuclear T/G set originally part of the Fort St Vrain HTGR NPP. This was permanently shutdown in Aug 1989 and decommissioned as a nuclear facility in Aug 1996.

All power is sold to Public Service Colorado under a long-term PPA. The plant site is 36ac and Invenergy dedicated an additional 53ac around the facility as a conservation easement. RBS served as lead arranger and underwriter on project financing.
