Quick facts: In May 2002, Osaka Gas announced plans for a feasibility study for a 1,000-MW, CCGT plant at its Senboku 2 LNG Terminal. The environmental impact analysis for Senboku-2 was completed in Mar 2006 and in Oct 2006, construction got underway on two pairs of  single-shaft CCGT units. Unit-2 went commercial on 1 Apr 2009. The fourth block was commissioned on 1 Nov 2009 making Senboku the largest gas-fired IPP in Japan. The total plant cost was around ¥100bn.
