Quick facts: This single-shaft block was completed on 10 May 2007 as the world’s such installation firing BFG. Since Anshan is in an area with average winter low temperatures of -16°C, the plant is equipped with an intake air heater using steam to heat the turbine air intake. This protects against compressor surges and combustion turbulence during periods of very low temperatures.

The joint venture partners were AES Chigen (35%), Chengdu Huaxi Power Holding Co (25%), a company formed by 15 state-owned enterprises to acquire power from IPPs, China National Aero-Engine Corp, and Chengdu Huachuan Petroleum and Natural Gas Exploration and Development Co (10%). Construction on this turnkey project started on 8 Nov 1996, first electricity was 21 Jun 1997, and commercial operation was on 5 Jul 1997.
