Fuel is from the Yacheng field offshore Hainan via a 780km subsea pipeline.

Quick facts: In Mar 2006, the Guangzhou University City development company agreed to purchase two 60-MW, Pratt & Whitney FT8 Swiftpac gas turbines for a greenfield project in a newly developing academic and technology area in Panyu District southeast of Guangzhou City center. The plant was originally scheduled for operation in late 2006, but the final purchase contract was not signed until Mar 2008 and the final construction contract was not signed until Jul 2008. The project was commissioned in Oct 2009. A 110kV power line was built to Xiaoguwei Substation by Guangdong Power Grid Co. The power component of the Guangzhou University City project cost Rmb 700mn.

Construction started on 28 Feb 2003 and the units went online in Aug 2006, Jan 2007, and Jun 2007, respectively.

Quick facts: The new block was built on reclaimed land next to the existing power station. In Apr 2005, Hongkong Electric signed a 25yr contract with Guangdong Dapeng LNG Co Ltd for the supply of LNG from Australia for Lamma-9. The LNG will be regasified and supplied through a 93km long submarine pipeline from the LNG terminal at Cheng Tou Jiao to a newly-built receiving terminal at Lamma Island.

Quick facts: In Mar 2003, a consortium of MHI and Dongfang was contracted for the power blocks for Shenzhen Qianwan, the first gigawatt-class combined-cycle in Guangdong. The site is on Dachan Island, first developed as a port inspection station for the Pearl River estuary. The Rmb3.9bn PS was originally developed by Shenzhen Qianwan Gas Turbine Power Plant Co, a joint ventured including Guangdong Electric Power Development Co (GEPD), Exxon Energy, CLP Group, and Kanematsu Power (South China) Ltd. The plant is now owned by GEPD (40%) and Guangdong Electric Power Development Co Ltd (40%). Unit-1 started-up in January 2007. Fuel is supplied from the Shenzhen LNG terminal under a 25yr agreement signed in Apr 2004.
