The plant has a 20yr PPA with the Ministry of Electricity and Water signed in Jul 2004. Site work started in Dec 2004 and the GTs went into simple-cycle operation on schedule in late Apr 2006 after 29mos of work. The steam sets were added in May 2007. Site manpower peaked at 1,850 in Dec 2005 and there were only two minor lost-time accidents during more than 4.2mn manhours of work. The project was developed by Suez Energy International and Gulf Investment Corp, each of which retains a 45% stake after selling 5% each to the Pension Fund Commission of Bahrain.
