The project company is owned by Orix Corp (96.49%) and Tokyo Gas Co (3.51%).

Quick facts: This generating unit in Omuta-shi first went into operation in May 2005 buring coal in a pulveized-fuel boiler. In April 2017, it re-started after being retrofit with a CFB boiler to burn biomass and other fuels. Primary fuel is PKS imported from Indonesia via Miike port in Omuta and stored in a newly-roofed storage facility with a capacity of 30,000t. The operating company is a Toshiba subsidiary and Toshiba's Energy Systems & Solutions Co did the conversion. Mikawa is also hosting a pilot post-combustion CO2 capture facility.

Total annual fuel burn is about 220,000t of wood, 50,000t of PKS, and 50,000t of coal. Foundation construction began in Nov 2014.
