Location: Chile
Operator: Eléctrica Nueva Energía SA
Configuration: 1 X 12 MW, 1 X 2.8 MW CHP
Operation: 2007-2009
Fuel: wood
Boiler supplier: Biochamm

Quick facts: In Aug 2005, the Forestal y Papelera Concepcion SA Board decided to implement a biomass power project at its Coronel wood products plant. In Apr 2006, FPC ordered the boiler and the first T/G set was completed in Feb 2007. Sufficient steam was available for additional generating capacity so a second unit was added in Mar 2009. At the end of 2008, the CHP plant was spun out into a new company called FPC Energia S.A (FPCE). In 2009, the FPCE shares were acquired by Inversiones Nueva Energía Ltda (INEL), who later renamed the company named Eléctrica Nueva Energía SA. ENESA is now 100% owned by SCL's Americas Energy Fund I.
